Unique and interesting to explore

This is not a Tarot deck though it has 78 cards, but the images are surreal and imaginative, very suitable for interpreting dream. Not recommended for beginner because it's a complicated oracle deck. Quality of colours and such is good, as expected from Lo Scarabeo.

Dreamy Surreal Tarot Deck

The Dream Cards consist of surreal imagery that really do look like they emerged from someone's strange dreamscape. Figures morph in and out of other people and objects and you can never be quite sure of the setting in which the images occur. Some of the card images can be unsettling to some people, but overall, they are fascinating.

Prior to using this deck I examined the imagery for several days before I even attempted to do a reading just because it is so highly unusual and thought-provoking.

The deck is very useful from an intuitive sense. The accompanying booklet does give thorough explanations as to the cards' meanings (many of which do not correspond with a traditional tarot deck), however, I find the deck more useful if one does not refer to the booklet at all. The images alone help your intuitive side to come up with its own interpretations. As you examine the images it makes your mind look at them as if you're remembering one of your own dreams. We've all done that - had a really weird dream, we wake up and think to ourselves, "what the ...?" Then we sit there and attempt to figure out what our dream may mean to us. That is how these cards make you think. Sometimes you can't make heads or tails out of the imagery and your intuitive brain kicks into full gear and you find your OWN meaning to the card, then you move on to the next card in your spread.

I really enjoy this deck and have been recommending it to my tarot students because it is a valuable tool that will help users connect more fully with their intuition. You don't need the little guidebook that accompanies this deck. Trust your own intuition when you view the images and you'll see just how incredibly accurate your own readings can be for you.

I recommend this deck more for those who have used a variety of tarot and oracle decks, but I also believe that beginners can get a lot out of it, as well.

NOT a tarot deck but a dream interpretation oracle deck

This is a fantastic oracle deck with 78 cards like a tarot deck but it doesn't have a major arcana, minor arcana nor court cards. In fact, they are numbered 1 through 78. Unlike what the previous reviews have mentioned, it is NOT a tarot deck at all. Even though there are 78 cards. The images on the cards are very evocative and allow for your intuition to roam free. There are titles for each card which correspond to a particular them to look out for when it appears in ones dreams. The LWB (Little White Book) is disappointing to say the least. While it does contain interesting spreads, upright and reversed meanings, it really doesn't go into how to use the cards themselves. Which can be confusing for those who are unfamiliar with oracle decks or dream interpretation. Not to mention the layout on how to use each spread has been left out or vaguely written. I would recommend getting a good dream dictionary to use alongside it. The cardstock is disappointingly flimsy which means the cards will not last the test of time. The multilingual borders (while useful) can be quite distracting to look when reading the cards for many people. I would like to see a guidebook written for this deck as it has so much potential. But overall I would recommend this deck, if not for the evocative images that trigger your intuition.

Beckett publications have the most sought after price guides in the hobby of Baseball. I've collected sports cards since 1972, and Beckett is used by more people than any other guide in the world. As for this book, you're getting a guide with over 1,000 pages of informative prices for some of todays (and yesterday's) hottest sets. Sets from as far back as 1887 to 2002. What I've always admired about Beckett guides is how extensive their listings are. Please note, while Beckett and other guides attempt to give you the most extensive coverage of the Baseball card market, it's virtually impossible to list every single set in existence. So if you get a guide and you do NOT see your card or set listed, it doesnt mean it isn't worth anything, it just means that your particular card or set may not be known of in the open market, or that it's not one of the most traded cards on the market.
The guide is set up so that the brand names are listed in alphabetical order, there's a section on the history of baseball cards, a guide to help you determine the condition of your cards (and folks, please know ahead of time, it's not kosher to put rubber bands around your collection) tips on how to Sell them, a Terminology section, a small section on how to collect, where to find them and how to preserve them. Each of the sets are broken down to list each single card of the set. You may find production numbers in the listing, as well as any known error cards or other variations. Rookie cards are designated with the RC mark. LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

5 Stars for Lyra Parish and her follow up to Single Volume 1!! Time to add Parker Williams to your BBF list!
Roxane VanBuren has found the one man that is crossing her set rules and working his way into her heart. Parker Williams also has a set of rules that he needs to be met to make this relationship work. Love shouldn’t be so hard. But when your heart has been shattered before, you do what you can to protect it. Will either one be able to get past their “rules” and let their love for each other happen?
After finishing Single Vol. 1 I couldn’t wait for this one to come out! I needed to make sure that Roxane didn’t do anything stupid and lose Parker Williams! The man oozes sex appeal, romance, and chivalry in Vol 2. There was a twist I did not expect and all I thought was “No”! Okay a little dramatic, but that is how into the book I was. I’m a fan, what can I say?! Thank you Lyra Parish for another 5 Star read!

Another Amazing book!!!!!

OMG I loved this book. I am so ready for book three now. I don't want to wait. I need to know what happens with Parker and Roxane. I LOVE Parker!!! I didn't think I could love him more than Finnley, but he has worked his way into my heart.

Roxane is determined to keep work and personal separate, but Parker is determined to break down all her walls. She knows that nothing good can come of them being together, but there is a connection there that draws her to him. She has known that since the first night she met him at Orleans. Can she give into her desire for Parker without losing focus on work?

Parker is determined to break down all of Roxane's walls. He sees something special in her and wants to get to know her. She is a hard woman to break though. He is hoping that their trip to New York will work in his favor to get her to let down her guard. But can he keep her if her gets her? What will he do if she walks away?

This is an amazing serial. I don't want it to end in the next book. I love reading about Roxi and Parker. But I am excited to read what Lyra has in store for us in the future!!

Loved this book.. I love Lyra. Could not wait for this to be out and its another one with the twists and turns and unpredictability that keeps you wanting to read more of Lyra's book. She is a master at that. Loving book from page one till the last page and saying" wow did not see that coming" that is what I love best in her books and any book I read. Never carbon copies of another persons book... She keeps the story rolling around and never lets you down. Never pages of boring blah blah blah,,, it holds your interest all the way through... Another home run Lyra!

Flawed, Dull, Superficial, Indispensable

Although flawed, WC is informative, almost comprehensive, and quite handy--it's a 682pp paperback you can read at the pool, but don't expect to make friends; the cover looks downright anti-social. His analyses are rather slanted in the expected, standard Anglo-English mode, i.e., he spends 20pp. on Northern Ireland (cf., only 8pp on all of Korea, and 13pp on China). And although he does bash America where it needs obvious bashing (eg., United Fruit, the CIA, etc.) his unabashedly liberal stance forces his hand into rather superficial, yet standard, conclusions concerning the nature of nation building, modernization, and repressive and totalitarian regimes. While endorsing the democracy/free-market system is hardly a bad thing, it does seem small minded to think of it as a panacea. There are functional reasons for countries to 'choose' other systems, especially when confronted with internal chaos and external threats (eg., Islamic Fundamentalism, extreme nationalism, Communism, Fascism, centralized economic systems, and totalitarianism may not be stupid mistakes made by crazy and evil men, but unpleasant yet necessary means to an end). But all books have their bias, and PB's is probably the most palatable to the most people. Also, this book is basically a micro-encyclopedia. It is not a profound treatise on the clash of peoples with historical necessity, whatever that may be. In fact, it's not profound at all, but it is informative. The prose is text-bookish, and he has a thing for using the same 1-2 cliches throughout the book (one of which is, 'to the tune of', as in,'to the tune of 2 billion dollars'.) But this is beyond nit-picking. A more important flaw is the sporadic lack of explanation. Granted, he can't write everything, but it gets increasingly frustrating to read a series of 'whats' without any 'whys'. Eg., PB writes, correctly, that Thailand backed the Khmer Rouge and that Israel backed Somoza, but no reasons are given. This turns what should be interesting history into a confused and very boring shopping list of disjointed facts, free from both causation and meaning.
Admittedly, this is somewhat unfair. The book is over 600pp as it is, and one can't accuse PB for being prolix. If he included penetrating insights at every needed point, the book would be in volumes.
As the reviewer from Mexico discovered, the book is not perfect. If you know a lot about a particular area, PB's thumbnail sketch may upset you. But again, this is unfair. The world is a big place, if PB were to make all distinctions and treat all conflicts to, let's say, 25pp, then the book would be roughly 1500pp long. Also, one of the beauties of the book is its inclusion of conflicts (and even countries) which most people don't know about or remember. WC provides the starting point for deeper analysis. (You can't look it up on the web or in the library if you don't know that it exists.) In sum: it's a great learning tool. It may not be as good as I had hoped, but it's well used, I have no regrets. At best and worst, WC will show even the most informed how little they know about many contemporary conflicts. Even if one doesn't learn much from WC--all this fact stuff doesn't 'stick' well--exposure to one's ignorance is very enlightening. And if the book creates more questions than it answers, all the better. Until something better comes along, WC is indispensible, and there is little point in waiting for that to happen.

Excellent Companion to Little Known world wars

This is a truly excellent book. I picked it up in England, started reading it on the plane back to the States, and couldn't put it down. The author manages to describe almost every important armed conflict since the end of World War II in breathtaking clarity. Through this book I found about wars that I never knew existed. As a bonus, the author also throws in a chapter about all of the different terrorist groups-fascinating reading.

Looks more like a tourist guide.

Brogan's title is a very ambitious one for a book in which he fails to separate the Colombian case (decades of violent guerrilla and terrorism) from the drug wars,who fails to note that there are five and not four Central Asia former USSR replublics, who includes Mexico (situated in North America, a geographic area regardless of economic and cultural differences) in a broad and superfluous Central America chapter. The book can not be rated above a conventional tourist guide where you get a brief summary of the conutry's history and current situation. Waste of paper.
